Why We Don't Need People Anymore

I remember how things were in the 80s and the 90s. People used to meet a lot. They would just naturally depend on each other. Meetings were casual back then, they didn’t need a special invitation. One could just drop in on each other. Most of the time tea and lunch were offered. But what one needed most was human interaction and the assurance that one could depend on each other....

How Sexual Abstinence can make the world more GREEN

I am appalled by the Millennials who pretend to be climate-conscious and then go get married, have kids, buy cars, travel the world and then make placards about “SAVE THE PLANET”. Are you wondering what SEX has to do with climate change, Now look at India for example, we totally depend on the dirtiest fuel “COAL” to meet the energy demands of our huge demographic dividend of humans in the age of 20-35....

Power dynamics in a family system

Since I love systems and power I decided to analyse the broader family network and how power dynamics work within extended families. So bear me out while I pontificate and wash the dirty laundry of our families in public. Fortunately, this blog is read by six people. We, humans, are products! The best model of humans is called an Alpha, the worse is the beta and the black sheep is the Sigma....

How about bringing back the good old fashioned talking on the phone

Yesterday a woman said, I can help you with social media marketing. It is free. I reluctantly agreed. I said this is my number let’s talk. She immediately shot back saying she prefer google meet instead of calls as she would like to share the screen. Well, nothing wrong with that. But seeing a face on the other end also that of a stranger (a woman) is a bit discomforting. One feels exposed....

My New 555 Home Cooking Rules

One of the things a single man has to solve is his meal problem. Growing up in a typical patriarchal family set up I never thought I would someday have to cook. Eating shouldn’t be fussy, but we have been so much sold on stuff like Are you eating enough fibre? Are you getting enough vitamins? Are you gluten-sensitive? etc, etc....

My tinder date turned out to be a hoe

We matched on tinder. I thought I had hit a jackpot. Her profile seemed like she was an accomplished woman who had travelled and hobnobbed with important people. I am attracted to successful, strong woman types. Someone who knows the ways of the world. I feel it would cover my lack of experience and naiveté. So we decided to meet at the local chai shop. I told her I can only afford to treat her a tea/coffee for the time being....

What does a man want from a woman?

I feel like I am one of the most demanding men out there. So I tend to avoid relationships, why to inflict myself on a woman who is out to have a good time? But maybe I can articulate here what I want and I feel all other men also want. Photo by Samantha Sophiaon UnsplashWhat do women want? But let me digress here and talk first about what women really want from their men?...

Does everyone have a price? (Kya sab kuch bikta hai?)

How to Buy a person. Everything is for Sale except the human spirit. But if you want to buy someone, here is the workflow. This isn’t as simple as it sounds. Bribing has to be covert and not overt as you are a white-collar executive and not some low lying footpath stall owner. You need to study the weakness of the person. In this sense, you need to see what are his needs....

I don’t mind what happens

I just finished a wonderful book called 4000 weeks on our work and our short life. Oliver Burkeman says that human lives are tragically very short. He says assuming one life to be 80 years old, translates to about 4000 weeks. I am nearing 50, so I have only about 1500 weeks to live. If I die early like my father at 60, I have only 500 weeks. I am embarrassed, I feel I haven’t achieved anything nor do I have property and assets to leave behind for my children....

Your Parents dont love as much as you think they love you

I realise most of my perceptions about relationships are shaped by Bollywood. Growing up, when you have a father from the silent generation (Yes, people born between 1925-1935 were known as the silent generation) and an alcoholic mother who was always passed out. You try to make sense of the world through popular culture. I have in my earlier blog post hinted at the grey areas of my perception of women....
